How to Use Layer Masks in Adobe Photoshop

There are many ways to create layer masks using grayscale. I have found this the easiest for changing parts of an image using the properties of a grayscale gradient. Once the mask is complete, you can always add to it or subtract from it using the grayscale range from black to white. The trick is to experiment and find the way that makes the most sense to you.
